    Guidelines:

Mirror Dance will be published four times a year; at the beginning of March, June, September and December. Submissions will be accepted at any time during the year and will be considered for the first unfilled issue of the e-zine.

Fantasy stories of all lengths, including flash, novellas, and novel excerpts, will be considered. However, we prefer to publish stories of 1,000 to 5,000 words.

Poetry will be considered if it tells a story and contains a fantasy element.

Please submit no more than five (5) works of any kind per quarter.

    How to Submit:

Fiction: send your story in a Microsoft Word document (.doc) or pasted in the body of an e-mail to markenberg@yahoo.com with the subject line "Mirror Dance Fiction Submission - Title." Be sure to remove the [nospam] from the e-mail address. If submitting more than one story, please include all submissions in one document, separated by the title in ALL CAPS. If you wish, you may include a brief biography and publishing history, but this is not required; bio information will be requested upon acceptance.

If you have illustrations to go along with your story, please attach them as a .jpg file. Please use only works you own the rights to or works in the public domain.

Poetry: follow the directions above, but use the subject line "Mirror Dance Poetry Submission - Title."

Art: please submit art in a .jpg file. Work must be suitable for all audiences and contain a clear fantasy element. Use the subject line "Mirror Dance Art Submission - Title."

Non-fiction: if you have an article, book review, author interview or any other piece of nonfiction you think would fit with our general theme, please submit it to the address above as a .doc attachment or pasted in the body of an e-mail with the subject line "Mirror Dance Nonfiction Submission - Title."

Advertisements and Announcements: Mirror Dance will publish ads and announcements pertaining to the fantasy genre. There is no charge for this service, however, we ask that you attempt to return the favor by spreading the word about Mirror Dance. Ads must fit with the general theme and layout of Mirror Dance: announcements have a 500 word limit. Picture ads should be sent as .jpg attachments: announcements should be written directly in the body of an e-mail. Use the subject line "Mirror Dance Announcement - Title."

    Other Considerations:

Please do not send us work that is currently under consideration elsewhere.

Reprints will be considered; please include first publication details in your e-mail.

We are asking for First Web Rights exclusive for three months (we ask that you please not repost the work for the three months in which it is featured in the e-zine). Authors should be aware that publication on any web site means they are forfeiting first publication rights, which diminishes a story's value and limits the number of markets that will consider it. The work will be archived unless the author specifically requests otherwise.

At the end of the year, we may ask to purchase first worldwide anthology rights (at a flat $10 per work rate) for a "Best of" anthology. Please notify us if you would prefer your story NOT be considered for the anthology.

If you do not receive an e-mail verifying that your story has reached our inbox within one week of your submission, please resend it as it must have gotten lost in hyperspace (please be sure the e-mail address above is not blocked by your spam filter). We hope to respond with final notification of your story's acceptance or rejection within six weeks.
