    Their back so strong
    their peaks so high

    with silhouettes that roll
    as a tide,
    of mountainous lushness
    seated in the sun.

    Aged and aging
    they are,
    yet there to withstand
the coils of time and reality
that shift as quickly as sand.

    Protruding henceforth
    into the sky,
    as a hand reaching
    unto our God
whose light dances in the heavens
    as the sun,
    as the stars,
    and whose beauty is captured
    through picturesque clouds
    —with movement and form
    that depict
    an instance
    of this magnificent
    Creation
    of His, of Hers.

    Hi Morning Star
Your poem you not only has strong images of the mountains, but you also capture how withstanding they are. In mind nature has prominence over most things in life. I really enjoyed the poem especially the third verse.

Your enthralling descriptions in this brilliant little poem is so reflective of the fact that you can aptly see the beauty in the simple things , who writes poetry about mountains and flowers and tress these days , its all political or romance but then again this is like back to the good all days when people had the time to stand and stare and absorb the beauty around them .. Bravo! I'm loving it .

Ha! Equal opportunity eh? I loved this last stanza. It gives a nod of respect to both Mother Nature and Father Time (as it were). But truly - your descriptions are quite vivid. You paint a picture with your words. I call it vividry ==> vivid imagery. Nicely written poem! You pay homage quite nicely to nature. Thanks so much for the share.

I'll co-sign this post. JONATHAN is absolutely correct. Seems a LOT of the writes I see on the net are steeped in political opinion, romantic feelings, and/or abstract sentiments based on the poets' reality, whereas paying homage to nature takes a backseat.

In my "Obsession With Technicolor" manuscript ((it's been sitting around collecting dust for years lol)) I devote the entire second portion to nature. The section is called "I Dream of Tennessee" and features poetry dedicated to the Tennessee hills, honeysuckle in springtime, and yes, even mountains whose color in Autumn are simply astounding to the eye.

So yes indeed. I truly enjoyed reading this poem. It reminds me that there is beauty still in the world. You've only got to spy it with a poet's eye. Hmmm - I may post a poem from Obsession a little later!
