When I rest my eager hands against the keyboard
my fingers transform with each ivory key
I succumb to the song of your sea
    embrace every wave
    move deeply
    with your extraordinary energy
    your power

    With each black key
    I enchant you
    resonate with you
    make magic with you
    my melodious silhouette
    echoes with you

    Pedals satisfy
    a lingering desire
    to touch you
    play you
    no one knew

    about me
    and my Piano.

Hey KIM - Such a lovely affair you've described with your piano - I had the same relationship with my TUBA actually. Making music (literally) is in a way - making love... It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who can appreciate such love making!

Thank you Ms Jacquii, first for taking the time to read, and comment as well. Great minds think alike! LOL!! Yes, I am pleased you enjoyed this, as I do feel a sort of intamcy with the profoundness of the instrument. As with your "Tuba". In a way, it can be described analogous to "making musical love". That is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I think that in this poem you really captured what creativity (and love?) is like and is about. As always, I enjoy reading your poems.

I could relate to this perfectly, I too play piano and in the right mood, there is nothing like it! There are times though when it really wants to argue with me! Love the way you convey the impression of becoming one with it because that truly is what happens. Thanks for posting!

Thank you so much True and Ms Tree for first taking time to read, then commenting. True, I really appreciate you being able to see the capturing of creatvity. As an artist and a poet, often times I miss on one or the other, I felt that perhaps I did get this one. Thank you. Dear Tree, Wow, thank you so much for the warm comment. Awwww, ty so much.......playing the piano, or any instrument indeed is like becoming one with it. Yes, you really did see the essence in my poem, sharp eye. Thank you so much again.

i would never have thought these words would be coming out of my mouth, but there are times when making love doesn't even come close to the feeling of playing

PD, what I love about your musical instrument poems is that you leave much to ponder; your words and imagery make it easy to take your meaning in more than one way...either way this is erotic, mystical, magical and filled with imagination, all rolled into one splendid piece.

You do have a unique way with words; something I don't see very often. You have the gift sweet poet, keep on making "music" with your words. I am mesmerized!

    Dear Sage,

Thank you so much for taking time to read and comment. You know, it is funny...I have no idea where the musical love poems come from, just sat down one day, and there they were. I thank that muse everyday, also. ;) I will try to continue to make Music" with my words, and I am so please you enjoyed this poem.:giftrose:

The Piano is my favorite instrument. Always wanted to learn to play. Have had a piano in the house my entire life and I love to sit down and pick out songs by ear but would never allow anyone to hear the horrible sounds I make. If you are half as good with your piano as you are writing you are fantastic. I loved your writing.

    Dear Sartor,

I want to thank you for your critique of this poem, and suggestions for helping me create this fantabulous version :bravo:. I am also glad this poem surfaced again because I spelled extraordinary incorrectly, and had not noticed before! Thank you for taking precious time to read as well. Our conversation meant a lot, and I am grateful. Take Care.

    {{~~**Kimberly**~~}}

P.S. This poem is very special to me, and has many layers of meaning. I am going to evolve this into a "My Piano" series, like my "Saxophone Love" series, with paintings to compliment the series. Thank you again.

    This write took my mind
    to places it should not
    have gone to and my
    thoughts lingered there.

    Wanting to know how
    that piano felt while
    you made such wonderful
    music upon it.

    And as ' thought some
    more, there was no need
    to wonder.

    No not anymore.

    Thanks for the read.
