I have been so lowly in my life,
as I was taught and acted the same,
    never considering the well,
from which I drew my shame,
growing in mind as I grew into my own way,
blinders left blindmen who I left behind today,
what carried me through the barrier between,
woeful, sulking and ugly was when I couldn't,
see the ugly in me anymore,
    from self-confidence,
built up by finding a new tree,
of living upon where I built new to the ground,
is now deep-rooted and standing proud,
find what you love and avoiding those who'll put the shame on you,
    who's hate's been prostituted,
    the greatest way to cope,
when inside a change is good,
is something you'll learn in life,
to not let disappointment destroy your world,
there will be new views and new hues,
    when approached the right way,
will strengthen your bond to God,family, and friends,
so don't give up your way.

    Dear Erik,

Here is one nice poem that meanders from depressed and low in self esteem to one of faith, hopes, dreams, and a lesson to be learned. I loved the ending stanza, as it is the pinnacle of the poem, and well said. I also like you semi-rhyme, and free verse in this piece, to me gave more substance. I really enjoyed this as it was an immense uplift to read Erik. Well done dear poet, well done. :bravo:

Erik! Great reflection we can all take to heart...about life and living it. Forward is the only way to move...a prize awaits for us somewhere in that motion called life. I also love the way you move slowly from being let down to being optimistic...that is how life should be viewed.

thanks Benny, your right forward is the only way,
moving from let down to optimistic is good to do it shows a journey rather than an experience
