Ol' man blues knocked on my back porch door
left a letter, marked I ain't comin' no mo',
foot slappin', finger tappin', on them old strings
    whose applaud is silent
    minds wonderin' and nappin'
ain't got no answer to the letter
but ol' man blues said he met her
when ol' man blues struts the porch again
    I'll have a letter marked
    personal my friend

    haha ------> BRAVO!

KIM - This is a very fitting tribute to the late-great Mr. Hughes -----> Love the style - even Semple would be proud.

This is a different style of write for you though - Not used to the Black Dialect coming out :p -----> But truly a very very nice piece:

That has to be my favorite lines... I won't really infer or think about trying to translate the meaning of this poem - Just simply LOVE the rhythm and the "toe-tapping" quality of this one!

Very nice - I look forward to more similar pieces from you
Girl you really did yo thang - This poem is AWESOME
    Thanx for sharing it!

    Jacquii.

Thank you so much Ms Jacquii, first for taking the time to read, then comment. This piece was really fun to compose, my foot was tappin, and so was my pen. I was reading Mr. Hughe's works one day, and was inspired by a poem called {Po' Boy Blues} in particular. I just picked up the pen and bam, my ode was created. I didn't really even think about it, just started writing. The poem is:

    Po' Boy Blues
    When I was home de
    Sunshine seemed like gold.
    When I was home de
    Sunshine seemed like gold.
Since I come up North de
    Whole damn world's turned cold.

    I was a good boy,
    Never done no wrong.
Yes, I was a good boy,
    Never done no wrong,
    But this world is weary
An' de road is hard an' long.

    I fell in love with
A gal I thought was kind.
    Fell in love with
A gal I thought was kind.
She made me lose ma money
    An' almost lose ma mind.

    Weary, weary,
    Weary early in de morn.
    Weary, weary,
    Early, early in de morn.
    I's so weary
I wish I'd never been born.
