    Old Photographs

    While looking at old photographs,
My mind soon lost its way,
    Along a foggy, winding path,
    That led to yesterday,

Now times and thoughts, long miles ago,
    Have overtaken me,
Till memories, what used to be,
Are all that I now see,

In motion slow, much off the pace,
    I watch life passing by,
My days then filled with life and love,
Warm days, bright sun, blue sky,

    I spent time, unaccounted for,
    Enjoying yesterday,
    Traveling through each memory,
    So long and far away,

I am not sure, what brought me back,
    I wish, I’d longer stayed,
Still I am ever, thankful for,
    My yesterdays, replayed,

    Tomorrow if I’m looking for,
    Events to fill a slot,
    Perhaps I’ll look at photographs,
    And times my mind’s forgot.

every once in awhile, i come across a couple poets who are kind enough to lend me the comfort of their smile through their muse. this is very reminiscent of frost. it was a very pleasant and comfortable read. thanks

    Zaac,
I sincerely appreciate your comments on "Old Photographs". Haven't been on line much lately and it was a very pleasant surprise to find three responses from you in my mail box. Thank you Zaac, for taking the time to read and respond.

    Dear Ron,

This was lovely. To take something as simply looking over as "looking at photographs", one can forget, why we are in the first place. Thank you for scribing that "why". This gave me an idea to do a rustic, sepia & ink wash painting, so thank you for that as well. :) Blessings my friend.

    PaintedDiary,
There was a time in my life when the most valued possessions were those I could take to the market and exchange for money, or the actual money I had in investments. Now the most valued possessions are old photographs and the diary I have painted in my heart. I trust that, in view of your assumed name, Painteddiary, you perhaps have a painted diary either stored away in a secret place in your heart or one you can actually pick up and read. If not already, some day you will realize, your words in your painted diary as well as the photos you have amassed, will be your most treasured items. This is why, when the house is burning down, the first thing people grab to save, is, "Old Photographs". Thank you for reading and responding.
    Ron
