I don’t go to places where we used to go,
The music we shared now is gone,
I’m trying to pick up the pieces that’s left,
To get past this moment, move on.

I’ve burned all the letters that you wrote to me,
Each letter said we’d never part,
I’m ridding my life of the memories of you,
But you are still there in my heart,

I’ve torn up the photos, of us and of you,
The friends that we shared don’t come by,
My friends treat me gently, as if I don’t see,
In kindness they never ask why,

I don’t watch the movies that we loved to watch,
For we lived each role, each part,
The beach is off limits where we used to go,
But you are still there in my heart.

I can’t bring my self to go strolling at night,
Under stars and a silvery moon,
I don’t have my lunch in the places we ate,
When the clock tells me it is near noon,

I’ve discarded all memories and thoughts that are you,
Each item, each action, each part,
Each day I move closer to living again,
But you are still there in my heart.

Relationships are complex and often leave us to bleed out...no doubt. We all can relate to this work.

Benny, yes, we all have been there and done that. Seems we always think it to be the end of the world but there is always tomorrow. Thanks for reading and for sharing your thoughts. Ron

    Dear Ron,

Yes, we can relate, and it is nice to read a poem of someone cleansing themselves, if you will. More of us could only hope to be able to do that, and move on. Some of us linger, and keep the hurt going, intrinsically, and / or, often times, extrinsically. I loved the repetitiveness of the line---->but you are still there in my heart. After all we are human, though moving on, yet have placed the memory on the shelf to the left in your heart, lol. I really enjoyed this, very much Ron, Thank you for sharing.

    Kim,
Yes........ you are still there in my heart........ even though we end a romance..... rid our lives of the remnants of past love.... if it did not end in a bitter experience a remnant of that love remains, deep seated in our hearts. We tend to forget the bad things in life, eventually remembering the good things. We have all had failed romance and too...... we all have love remnants in our hearts. Thank you for reading and responding as always. I enjoy you comments....... just another painting of a page from my diary. Ron
