SECRETS ON THE WIND ~ SONNET

Dead leaf what kind of mission are you on?
As in the wind you twirl with sudden panic?
What message do you bring to green-grass lawn?
You are only coming through in static.

What secrets do you keep from Mother Earth?
That wind and you will take to your ground-grave?
What is, to you, this air adventure worth?
That stuck to wind you are a bonded slave?

Your brothers wait below so patiently
cause answers that you have will wake their sleep.
So leaf, upon your journey go gently
and come what may, those secrets safely keep.

The trees, the sky and rivers will cajole,
so keep the secrets in your withered soul.

Moonchild this is a very lively piece and a lovely sonnet, with all the ups and downs of emotions coming through. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lovely sonnet Karen...wonderfully done! We will all be in the wind someday...and carry our secrets with us to the ground. Although probably not the poets...we won't have many left will we?

    I love poems about nature,

    Dear Karen,

This is beautiful....I too love nature poems and I love the concept of the leaves carrying secrets...stunning. Just like the rain...oh boy...if the rain could speak..for it is recycled and holds many secrets. I love love love this!

There's a unique tension with the dead leaf and the green grass. I love the illustration as well. I feel there's a defiance against death in the message because the dead leaf is still above ground and possibly still being blowed by the wind because it won't settle for decay. Interesting and I'm going to read it some more. You truly scratched my mind with this radiant write Moonchild.

    Thank you Tha-Emissary.
You are right, there is a defiance
    with death here. Good spot!
I'm glad you like it and will read more*hugs*
