    Where I Lie With You
    (but why wait?)

    because i love you,
    i hope you can wait.

But I'm tired baby. What is
This illusive thing you call love?
Let's do the damn thang. Why wait?

    because i love you,
i hope you can see past
    the bravado and my pain
i dream you can touch the softness
    that lies beneath
    my polished exterior.

But Baby, my interior is hungry.
My every thought of you just
Seems to ravish my insides; I cry
At night, not knowing where you reside,
I need you exquisitely like the gleam that lies in your eye
When you glance upon my very being - Babyboy...
    Why wait for you? Why?

    because i love you
i wish on star filled nights that you can smooth these deep lines,
    sustain my soul,
    caress my heart
    to help me heal;
allow me to lay my head on your shoulder
and breathe in time with you,
    to be with you,
    to be part of you.

    Wishes of essential caressings
    Under the stars? With you?
I can dig it - But why? Why wait?
The dude next door be glancing my way,
Me the epitome of his lust-filled sway
(And he cocky too Babe - yeah he looks)
I mean these hips do swing for days
How come Baby - How come you make me wait?

    because i love you,
i answer to you late at night,
    listening, murmuring sweetly in ascent
of our future, of our past,
    our lives intertwined,
    my love, my heart,
tangled up in all that is you,
your eyes, your voice, your body,
    piercing my indifference...

See? There you go, spittin' those utterly
Wet words; You corrupting my very last nerve
Everso sweetly... Goddam - I can swim
In the poetry of you for years Babyboy,
But damn! Must you... Must you -

what? soak you to your core,
    enrapturing you, melting the long-ignored
freeze that had closed over you,
    bringing me back to
the place of your warm contentedness
    where I lie with you?

Exactly - But why?... Why wait?
I long so deeply for you and not just
your slick and sophistocated wordplay. I mean -

    because I love you.

    You tease me.

    i am forever yours.

    "Yeah - well we'll see,"
    As I mumble deep
In reverie, "I love you too Baby.
    I love you too."

this reminded me of an old janet jackson song, let's wait awhile.

it tickled me that the "girl" is the one who wants to devour the boy and the "boy" is the one telling her to hold on.

this was a fierce collab. i like the play and contrast in language in each stanza. neat. i enjoyed it.

PD…thanks for resurrecting this stupendous write!!! I can see I will have to go dig deep into the bowels of JPiC…

Ms. J this is an absolutely beautiful and realistic collaboration…such feelings of love coming through…and the impatience vs. the patience on one hand…I can feel the hunger for the physical love and the beauty of the soul “taking it to a mystical plane”

    Awesome!!

    dual part a duet,
    in poetry is refreshing,
of course you know the male part
    spoke louder too me,
    because of its gentle nature,
    such a soft wonderful piece,

I want to thank everyone for thier comments on thier piece. I can not believe Jacquii brought this up. I recieved and email out of amazement and there was our piece we wrote. For me this was written at a hard time in my life and I think Jacquii can agree she stood beside me giving advice along the way. I am glad everyone enjoyed this work.

    Take care, Hugh

HUGH everytime I read this piece - It's fond memories of a time past.
I too was going through some thangs - so to say - but this poem really reminds me of the happy times spent in the bliss of LOVE... The gift of marriage = a mutual sharing of lifes' turmoil.

    Twas a pleasure indeed ;)

    Very well written Collabo,
I can see the dark stage light up with you(Ms.J) and Hugh going through the motions!
It moves as a very interesting play...
Longing for more...upset that I got to my seat to late...
    Fore something was missed!
    I'll read it again!
    Peace & Love!

    Thanx so much TOM!
I'm glad you enjoyed the poem!

LOL - Thanx very much for the wonderful comment FTD.
Yep - I always thought of the back-and-forth as a type of one-poem play of sorts
I'm glad you saw that! And thanx again for your comment - I'm happy you enjoyed our poem ;)
