Wisdom Crieth Without Call For Submissions
    WisdomCriethWithout.com

[photoright=http://jpicforum.info/forum/images/articlepics/wisdom-crieth-without.png]Wisdom Crieth Without is an online poetry magazine dedicated to fostering a love for traditional poetry. In the last sixty years or so, rhyming and metrical poetry has been sorely neglected in the literary world; we seek to remedy that. In addition to regularly posting classic examples of traditional poetry, our primary goal is to seek out new poets who respect the forms of old, and reward them for their creativity. We wish to satisfy a dire need; the public’s need for quality poetry, and the author’s need for recognition and recompense. See the latest issue of Wisdom Crieth Without at <a href="http://www.wisdomcriethwithout.com/latest-issue/" title="Wisdom Criety Without: Latest Issue" target="_blank" class="small">Latest Issue | Wisdom Crieth Without</a>[/photoright]Submission Guidelines

You are all set to send us the earth-shattering revelation that is your poetry and art, correct? Let us see it then! However, while you go about shattering our home world, there are regulations about such things. What may seem groundbreaking to you may be deal-breaking for us, so it is advisable to consult the rules of the road first.

Below is posted the Submission Guidelines. We implore you to read them carefully, because those who abide by them gain a part of our good opinion as soon as their submission is opened. Furthermore, to become best acquainted with the aesthetic we aim for, read one of our previous issues. It is free to do so, and the understanding gained by such an exercise is invaluable.

If these terms have not already become too great a tax upon your efforts, proceed to the Guidelines!

    POETRY
    • We are looking for traditional poetry. That means it must either rhyme, have meter, or (preferably) both. Free verse is not the focus of this magazine, and you would have a greater chance submitting such elsewhere.

    • For previously unpublished work, we pay a minimum of $25 per poem, with $1 per line added for all lines above fifty, up to a maximum of $100. Reprints of previously published poems receive a flat payment of $10. Lest there be any confusion, “published” includes the posting of your work on message boards, poetry sites, blogs, and the like.

If your work has appeared in print or on the Internet —-whether you were paid or not—- it has been “published”.

    • Poems should be sent as text in the body of an e-mail. You may send up to five poems at a time. There is no length limit; if you have written a modern Iliad, we are more than glad to read it!

    • If there is promiscuous, profane, gratuitously violent, or otherwise uncouth content in your letter or poetry, your entry will receive an immediate rejection; no exceptions. Furthermore, your e-mail address will be marked as spam, and all further submissions from your address will be deleted unread. We are focused on genuine emotions here; we are not interested in exploitation.

    • Should your entry be rejected for reasons other than immorality, we ask that you wait at least two weeks before re-submitting.

    • We accept simultaneous submissions, but we ask that you notify us as soon as your work is accepted elsewhere.

    • We do accept reprints, as long as you notify us where it was published first, so that we may give due credit to its original publisher. Additionally, reprints receive a flat payment of $10. Lest there be any confusion, “published” includes the posting of your work on message boards, poetry sites, blogs, and the like. If your work has in any way appeared in print or on the Internet —-whether you were paid or not—- it has been “published”.

    • When you submit to Wisdom Crieth Without, you grant us the non-exclusive right to publish your work online and display it for the duration of the magazine. Copyright remains with the writer in all cases. All accepted entries are entitled only to the payment stated above; all royalties accrued on this site afterwards remain in the possession of the magazine.

    • If your work is later accepted in another market, we ask that you acknowledge Wisdom Crieth Without as its first publication. We also ask that you refrain from submitting your accepted work elsewhere until two months have passed since the publication of your poems in our magazine.

    • Include a brief biographical note, written in the third person, with all submissions.

    • All submissions are to be sent to wisdomcrieth@yahoo.com. In the subject header, put “Poetry Submission: [insert your name]“.

    ART
    • We are looking for quality artwork of traditional sensibility. Realistic, surrealistic, caricature —-all of these are wanted for this magazine. We do on occasion accept photography. What is not desired is abstract art or Dadaism.

    • We pay $25 for all accepted, previously unpublished black&white art. Reprints receive a flat payment of $10.
We pay $40 for all accepted, previously unpublished color art. Reprints receive a flat payment of $20.
We pay $25 for all accepted, previously unpublished photographs. Reprints receive a flat payment of $10.

Lest there be any confusion, “published” includes the posting of your work on message boards, art sites, blogs, and the like. If your work has in any way appeared in print or on the Internet —-whether you were paid or not—- it has been “published”.

    • We review submissions to judge talent. In most cases, the art you present will not be published, but we may comission you to illustrate a specific poem.

    • Art should be sent as an attachment to the e-mail, or in the body of the e-mail itself. You may send up to five pieces at once, in either JPEG or Bitmat format.

    • If there is nudity, promiscuity, profanity, gratuitous violence, or otherwise uncouth content in your letter or piece, your entry will receive an immediate rejection; no exceptions. Furthermore, your e-mail address will be marked as spam, and all further submissions from your address will be deleted unread. We are focused on genuine emotions here; we are not interested in exploitation.

    • Should your entry be rejected for reasons other than immorality, we ask that you wait at least two weeks before your next submission.

    • We accept simultaneous submissions, but we ask that you notify us as soon as your work is accepted elsewhere.

    • We do accept reprints, as long as you notify us where it was published first, so that we may give due credit to the original publisher. Additionally, photographys and black&white art reprints receive a flat payment of $10; color art reprints receive a flat payment of $20. Lest there be any confusion, “published” includes the posting of your work on message boards, art sites, blogs, and the like. If your work has in any way appeared in print or on the Internet — whether you were paid or not — it has been “published”.

    • When you submit to Wisdom Crieth Without, you grant us the non-exclusive right to publish your work online and display it for the duration of the magazine. Copyright remains with the artist in all cases. All accepted entries are entitled only to the payment stated above; all royalties accrued on this site afterwards remain in the possession of the magazine.

    • If your work is later accepted in another market, we ask that you acknowledge Wisdom Crieth Without as its first publication. We also ask that you refrain from submitting your accepted work elsewhere until two months have passed since the publication of your art in our magazine.

    • Include a brief biographical note, written in the third person, with all submissions.

    • All submissions are to be sent to wisdomcrieth@yahoo.com. In the subject header, put “Art Submission: [insert your name]“.

    ARTICLES
    • In addition to creative work, we also publish factual articles aimed to improve the poet’s and the artist’s crafts.

    • Previously unpublished articles are paid at a rate of 6¢ per word. Reprints are paid a flat rate of $10. Lest there be any confusion, “published” includes the posting of your work on message boards, writing sites, blogs, and the like. If your work has in any way appeared in print or on the Internet —-whether you were paid or not—- it has been “published”.

    • Articles should be informative and comprehensive, but they should also be easily understood by the layperson. The goal of these articles is to educate and develop aspiring talents, many of whom may be unfamiliar with the tenets of the art.

    • Articles should be sent as text in the body of the e-mail. No more than two articles may be sent at one time. We are looking for articles between 500 and 4,000 words in length.

    • If there is promiscuous, profane, gratuitously violent, or otherwise uncouth content in your letter or piece, your entry will receive an immediate rejection; no exceptions. Furthermore, your e-mail address will be marked as spam, and all further submissions from your address will be deleted unread. The aim here is to culture creative minds; not corrupt them.

We also ask that you refrain from submitting your accepted work elsewhere until two months have passed since the publication of your article in our magazine.

    • Include a brief biographical note, written in the third person, with all submissions.

    • All submissions are to be sent to wisdomcrieth@yahoo.com. In the subject header, put “Article Submission: [insert your name]“.

We look forward to hearing from you!
