Words stare at me as I stare back at them.
Are they seeing into me as I read them?
Do they steal my thoughts or create them?
    Words … just words,
    like music with no verse
empty of meaning but filling a space
and I grieve the loss of voice
    my words once had.

I think they are somewhere in me,
shelved like the books I collect.

Wow... great poem! Love the last line. Is it meant to mean that you are unable to talk or muted in any way?
