Three One Six is the newest Christian theology journal! We are publishing quarterly and are scheduled to release the first issue in mid June.

Be sure to get your submissions in as soon as possible to be considered for the June issue. We will continuously accept submissions all year long, so that we can create a reserve of submissions to be published in later issues.


We are looking for, in this order:

1. non fiction
2. artwork
3. poetry
4. fiction

We want to publish all types of work in 3.1.6, however we are more interested in some genres than others. The list of the types of work we are looking for is in order of importance.

Non fiction will be the main attraction of the journal and can include topics such as personal essay, commentary, opinion, Bible Study and more. You can get all the details of what we want in our source book .

Artwork is almost as important as non fiction. A good piece of art can invoke a lot of emotion and thought in people. Interior art will be published in black and white, while the cover art will be color most of the time, but we will consider black and white covers when they will work well.

Poetry can be a powerful tool of praise and worship. We would like to include a lot of poetry in 3.1.6 and hope to even start a poetry contest in the future.

Fiction A good story teller can weave a lot of meaning and symbolism into their story while at the same time be very entertaining. We do not have plans to publish a lot of fiction, but will be interested in stories that spark our imagination and make us look at things from a different perspective.

All written submissions should be typed and double spaced. Hard copies should include your name address and contact information on the first page, and your name on every page of the submission. Electronic submissions should be in MS Word doc format and attached to an email. You can type the submission in the body of the email, but please format the email so that it is readable and we can tell the difference between the submission and any other text in the email. Any submissions that are unreadable will be deleted.

Art submissions should be no more than 8"x10", but the ideal size is 6"x9". Interior art will be printed in black and white, but if you have done the work in color, then please submit in color. Snail mail submissions should be copies, since we cannot return your art. Electronic submissions should be in gif or jpg format and at least 300dpi.

PAYMENT:

As with any independent publication we are unable to pay professional rates. This is enhanced by the fact that we are a small up and coming theology journal and it will take us quite a few issues to build up a good circulation.

A customary payment for such publications is contributor copies. We will of course pay each contributor one print copy of the issue they are published in as well as offer discounted pricing for future purchases of that same issue.

We will also promote and plug any project that the contributor has at the moment. We may not have a huge circulation, but getting the contributor’s name out there will benefit them a lot.

In addition to the contributor copy each contributor will be getting a free one year subscription to the journal in pdf format. Contributors must have a valid email address to receive this subscription.

Many similar publications stop there when it comes to payment. Three One Six will be different. We will be offering bonuses to all contributors of an issue. The amount of bonus will depend on the number of issues sold within each bonus period.
